When founder Richard Barkey started Imparta in 1997, the goal was to provide an antidote to an industry that was – and remains – focused on delivering events rather than results.

Imparta Supports Business Bridge Initiative to Build Business Capabilities in the Developing World
Imparta, a global company that builds capabilities across sales, marketing and service, has partnered with The Business Bridge Initiative to bring high quality business education at a low cost to entrepreneurs on a global scale.
The Business Bridge Initiative is a charity that aims to improve the skills and knowledge of individuals who would not normally be able to afford a formal business education. The goal is to help boost entrepreneurial activity wherever there is a need, especially in the developing world. The initiative is working in South Africa and Ghana and currently exploring further countries in Africa.
Imparta is providing the e-learning, content and learning design for the Initiative at a charitable rate, using modified versions of its award-winning programmes. A successful pilot has been completed and the Initiative will go on to cover four main topics: ‘How to Win Through Sales’, ‘How to Win Through Marketing and Strategy’, ‘How to Win Through Finance’ and ‘How to Make Things Happen.’ Each topic contains 8 modules which combine online learning with face-to-face tutoring by trained business school alumni. The training is delivered through a network of local hubs provided by the Initiative’s global partners.
Michael Hay, Project Director of the Business Bridge Initiative (and a Non-Executive Director of Imparta) commented “The universal feedback from students, channel partners, tutors and external stakeholders is that the intellectual integrity and design quality of the Imparta materials is extremely high. The blend of online and modular classroom learning is ideal as it combines deep learning with application to real-world problems and opportunities. The impact on the businesses and careers of the pilot group has been significant.”
Richard Barkey, CEO of Imparta added “It’s an enormous privilege to be able to contribute to what is an extremely important initiative, helping small businesses and individuals in the developing world to pull themselves out of the global recession. Imparta’s mission is to have a sustainable impact on its clients’ performance, and I’m delighted to have this opportunity to extend that assistance to people we would not normally be able to reach.”
