Barbara Steel has trained thousands of sales professionals as well as mid and senior level managers in the areas of consultative selling, sales strategy, negotiations, and sales coaching. Her experience along with her polished facilitation skills, professionalism and energetic style is highly regarded by our clients and workshop participants. She is also certified to train other facilitators.
She began her sales career as an Account Executive for the Savin Corporation twenty years ago. Her record sales resulted in her rapid promotion to the Major Account team where she successfully managed both major and national accounts. She effectively developed new business opportunities by outselling her formidable competitors, Canon and Xerox, as well as sustained a 95% persistency rate with her account base. During her years of selling complex business solutions, Barbara honed her consultative sales capability; she then transitioned into Sales Training.
As a Field Training Manager for Canon U.S.A., she demonstrated a remarkable range of capabilities: performed instructional design, facilitated sales skills and strategy training programs, consulted with Canon’s customers on sales training, and managed a national team of sales trainers. She has also consulted in human resources and organizational development.
Barbara has led courses in workplace diversity, performance management, selection and hiring practices and leadership development. She developed these skills while working in human resources for both Canon U.S.A. and Cultural Access Worldwide.
Her training experience spans a variety of industries, including professional consulting services, telecommunications, healthcare, printing/ publishing, energy, government contracting, information technology, banking/financial services, medical diagnostics, business systems, office furniture systems, public relations and online marketing and advertising.
Barbara holds an MBA from Northwestern University with majors in Marketing and Organizational Behavioor and a BA in Business from Loyola University of Chicago.
