People

Formed by Richard Barkey in 1997, Imparta now employs over 80 full-time staff, with a variety of backgrounds from senior roles within sales, marketing and service to occupational psychology and software development.

In addition to our in-house training faculty, we also have over 100 associate faculty members around the world. In conjunction with our in-house translation service and local partners, this enables us to deliver the face-to-face component of our programmes globally in multiple languages.

Imparta has operations and partnerships in the UK, United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Africa, giving us the ability to deliver large scale, global roll-outs.

Management Team

Richard Barkey - Chief Executive

Richard founded Imparta in 1997. He was formerly at McKinsey & Co, where he spent four years as a management consultant, and then three years pioneering the use of simulation-based training. Having grown Imparta to be one of the UK's leading sales and marketing training companies, Richard remains closely involved in learning design, as well as taking overall responsibility for the direction of the business. Richard holds an MA in Engineering and an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School. He sits on the Editorial Board of Training Journal.

Mark Abell - Chief Marketing Officer

Mark has held a number of roles at Imparta including MD, Imparta UK. He has played a key part in the company's development since it was founded. Prior to joining Imparta, Mark was Head of International Marketing at the London Stock Exchange. He also held a number of business development positions at Baring Asset Management and the London Stock Exchange. Mark has a Masters degree (with distinction) from the London Business School.

Janet Garcia – Chief Commercial Officer

Janet Garcia is a business leader with a strong track record of growing businesses within the training, elearning and Consulting markets. Previous positions held by Janet include Managing Director of elearning companies Intuition and MindLeaders (now Skillsoft), as well as Senior VP of Sales for research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. Her position of Chief Commercial Officer at Imparta reports to the CEO and sits both on the Board and Executive team. She has direct responsibility for the global sales team with the primary focus of driving both top and bottom line growth of the company.

Brian Borowsky - Managing Director, Imparta Asia Pacific

Brian is a long-standing member of Imparta's management team. He was previously Product Management Director at seek.com.au and a Director of SMG (a US-based simulation and eLearning company). Brian has developed and delivered simulations, programmes and internet products across a wide range of subject areas and industries. Brian is also an experienced trainer in strategy, marketing, finance and sales. He currently resides in Melbourne, Australia.

Linden Ingram - Executive VP, Imparta Inc

Linden has been in sales and sales management for 23 years and has worked for organisations such as GMAC, GE, FranklinCovey and Imparta. He recently graduated from Portsmouth University with a Masters degree in Sales Management. Having been successful in all of his sales roles he is passionate about raising the bar in terms of sales ability and performance. Linden has recently moved to Austin to head up our expansion into the USA.

Tania Davies - Office and Personnel Manager

Tania is responsible for the day-to-day running of the office and all HR related matters. Tania was previously Finance and Administration Manager for a sales recruitment company called BTA. After leaving university, Tania gained valuable experience in back office and financial systems whilst at Penna Executive Coaching.

Rob Nixon - Financial Controller

Rob is responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of Imparta's Finance function. He is a Chartered Accountant (ACMA) with a degree in Accounting for Business which he studied at Staffordsdhire Univertisty. Rob joined Imparta in 2007 from his previous role as Finance Manager at Dearle & Henderson Ltd, where he improved the finance function's processes and reporting. Rob has obtained his experience in financial and management accounting during succesful spells in several finance roles since graduating in 1999.

Andy Hennah - Head of Software Development

Andy Hennah runs Imparta's software development team. He was previously with Barcrest, an online gaming company, where he led two of their software development teams (the core systems and user interface teams). Prior to that he was with Actix, a company that specialises in mobile network analytics and optimisation. Andy holds joint patents for Mobile Phone Network Management Systems.

Anne-Marie White - Head of Client Engagement

Anne-Marie is responsible for Imparta's operations, consultancy, assessment & measurement, translation, project management, logistics and printing & dispatch functions.  Her primary focus is driving impact for clients and she acts as the sponsor for major projects and all complex academies. She reports into the CEO and sits on both the Board and Executive team. She has over 25 years of experience in sales, HR & L&D and was previously Learning and Development Manager for EMEA at Hewlett-Packard. She holds an M.B.A. from Henley Management College, is a trained Executive Coach, an NLP Business Practitioner and a BPS qualified assessor for psychometric instruments.

Non-Executive Directors

Peter Williamson - Chairman

Peter is Professor of International Management at Cambridge Judge Business School, and has been Chairman of Imparta since 1997. Prior to joining Judge, Professor Williamson was with the Asian Business and International Management faculty at INSEAD for 10 years. He was also Visiting Professor of Strategy at the Cheung Kong Business School in Beijing, Visiting Professor of Global Strategy at Harvard Business School, and Dean of MBA Programmes and Professor of Strategic and International Management at London Business School. He is an experienced consultant to firms around the world, and brings a strong background both in business theory and in developing and commercialising teaching materials. He has been an active participant in content creation for Imparta.

David Stephen

David has a background in film production (freelance film producer, executive at Columbia Pictures) and multimedia (Strategic Planning Manager, SEGA Europe Ltd. and CEO, Real World Ltd). He is the CEO of Feral Interactive Ltd., a software publisher, and brings extensive experience of interactive multimedia in general and distribution issues in particular.

Andy Isherwood

Andy Isherwood was appointed as the Managing Director and Senior Vice President of HP UK and Ireland, in November 2013. He is responsible for all country operations and oversees a portfolio that spans printing, personal computing, software, services and IT infrastructure.

Prior to this role, Isherwood was Senior Vice President for the worldwide sales, services, and support organization in HP Software.  HP Software is the world’s sixth largest software company.

A veteran of HP for more than 25 years, Isherwood has held key roles in the United Kingdom, Europe and worldwide, including U.K. Sales Director, European Channel manager, Global and Enterprise sales director, and a number of general management roles.

Isherwood holds a degree in business studies from the University of London and is a member of the institute of marketing. He has two children and is keen on fly fishing, shooting, hockey, cars, motorbikes, motorboats and property development.

Imparta has a superb pool of 140+ trainers that spans the globe, and a rigorous process for finding, assessing, training and accrediting new trainers as required. Some of these are Imparta employees, some are independent associates, and some work for our network of value-added distributors. For multi-national roll-outs, all are coordinated to provide a high quality, consistent yet locally-sensitive implementation. 

Our trainers are practitioners and experts in their field, and our casting process ensures an excellent fit not only between their expertise and your business, but also between their style and the culture and preferences of each group to be trained.
