When founder Richard Barkey started Imparta in 1997, the goal was to provide an antidote to an industry that was – and remains – focused on delivering events rather than results.
Take leadership decisions in our Strategy Simulation.
Imparta CEO, Richard Barkey, raises questions all business leaders should ask.
No organisation can perform to the best of its potential without developing its leaders – the people who inspire others to achieve and perform. Research has long established that the key influence on an individual’s performance is the line manager they work with.
What makes a great leader has long been a topic of study and debate in management circles. But whilst the theories uncover widely different styles and personalities, some key attributes are seen as common to successful leadership.
It’s now widely accepted that modern businesses need the right leadership qualities to penetrate the organisation much deeper than just top tier management. And in today’s demanding environments, many of these fundamental qualities need to be acquired early in an individual’s career – and reinforced on a regular basis.
Individuals in leadership roles need to demonstrate a set of core skills as part of ‘making things happen’ in their areas of responsibility…whether they are the CEO or a line manager.
Helping to develop the organisation’s objectives and set its strategic direction will require leaders to draw on strong problem solving skills to assess issues and options, leading to cohesive decisions to drive the business forward. Dealing with the changes frequently forced on organisations by dynamic markets will also demand the personal qualities required to accept incoming information and be ready to flex and adapt if needed.

The real measure of a Leader is how well they achieve their objectives by inspiring others to action, and by acting as a role model, fostering a sense of belonging, creativity, and participation amongst those they work with. They develop the organisation’s ‘people assets’ by identifying what personal characteristics and behaviours are needed – in themselves and others – to build competitive advantage. Where gaps in capabilities are perceived, the leaders’ key role is to find the most appropriate ways to build capability, and search out appropriate best practice or ‘next’ practice and processes to improve performance.
Below is an indication of the core areas in which we offer leadership training. As we offer custom and tailored solutions, we can adapt, merge or design courses from scratch to meet your specific needs.
The majority of our courses can be delivered virtually as well as face-to-face, and we also offer clients a Train-the-Trainer option, enabling them to bring training in-house if they so wish.
As well as offering training in the above areas, we also offer Executive coaching for individuals to help them develop their leadership skills.
